$1 Million Donated to Help Restore National Mall

The nonprofit Trust for the National Mall announced a $1 million gift on Monday from the family foundation of a Washington developer, John E. Akridge III. Mr. Akridge, the chairman of the trust, began working to establish it in 2001; it was officially started in 2007. The trust has set a goal of raising $350 million to help restore the National Mall’s grounds and facilities.
